Community Guidelines

Upskrol is a global community built on creativity, authenticity, and respect. These guidelines help ensure Upskrol remains safe and welcoming for everyone. Violations may result in content removal, warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent account bans.
📋 Account Status & Enforcement Levels
Upskrol uses a graduated enforcement system. Your account can have one of four statuses:

🚫 Prohibited Content
The following content is strictly prohibited on Upskrol. Violations will result in content removal and may lead to account warnings, suspension, or permanent ban depending on severity.
🚫 Violence & Dangerous Acts: Do not post violent, graphic, gory, or dangerous content that could cause physical harm.
🚫 Hate Speech: No attacks based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or serious disease.
🚫 Harassment & Bullying: No bullying, threats, doxing (sharing private information), stalking, or coordinated harassment campaigns.
🚫 Illegal Content: No promotion of illegal activities, drugs, weapons sales, fraud, human trafficking, or terrorism.
🚫 Sexual Content: No pornography, sexually explicit material, nudity (except educational or artistic contexts), or non-consensual intimate images.
🚫 Copyright Infringement: Only upload content you own or have rights to. Unauthorized use of copyrighted material may result in copyright strikes (see our DMCA policy).
🚫 Impersonation: Do not impersonate other individuals, brands, or organizations in a misleading or deceptive manner.
🚫 Spam & Misleading Content: No bots, fake engagement (likes/followers), clickbait, misleading metadata, or deceptive practices.
🚫 Minor Safety: No content that exploits or endangers minors. Accounts must be 16+ years old.
✅ Allowed Content (Fair Use & Transformative Content)
Upskrol supports freedom of expression. The following types of content are generally allowed under fair use/fair dealing:
✓ Criticism & Commentary: Using short clips to analyze, critique, or review the original work is protected.
✓ Political Commentary: Using clips of public figures, politicians, or government proceedings for criticism, satire, or analysis is protected.
✓ News Reporting: Using clips to report on current events is protected.
✓ Educational Use: Using clips for teaching, analysis, or educational purposes is protected.
✓ Parody & Satire: Using clips to ridicule, mock, or comment on public figures or works is protected.
✓ Transformative Content: Adding new meaning, expression, or commentary to existing content is protected.
📝 Best Practices for Creators
- Add value: Your content should add commentary, criticism, or analysis to any clips you use
- Use only what you need: Use the minimum amount of copyrighted material necessary to make your point
- Don't replace the original: Your video should not serve as a replacement for watching the original work
- Give credit: When possible, credit the original creator
- When in doubt, ask: If you're unsure about fair use, consider obtaining permission or using royalty-free content
⚠️ Copyright Strikes & Repeat Infringer Policy
Copyright infringement is taken seriously. Our three-strike policy works as follows:
- Strike 1: Content removed. Account status becomes "Warned". Warning notification sent.
- Strike 2: Content removed. 30-day account suspension. Account status becomes "Suspended". No uploading or commenting during suspension.
- Strike 3: Content removed. Permanent account termination. Account status becomes "Banned". All content removed.
If you believe your content was wrongfully removed for copyright, you may file a counter-notification as described in our DMCA/Copyright Policy.
⚡ Enforcement Actions
Depending on the severity and frequency of violations, Upskrol may take the following enforcement actions:
- Content Removal: Individual videos, comments, or profile information may be removed
- Warning: First-time or minor violations result in a warning (account status: "Warned")
- Temporary Suspension: Serious or repeat violations result in 30-day suspension (account status: "Suspended")
- Permanent Ban: Severe violations or 3 copyright strikes result in permanent ban (account status: "Banned")
- Device/Email Banning: Banned users may not create new accounts using the same device or email
📢 Reporting Violations
To report a violation of these Community Guidelines:
- In-app reporting: Use the "Report" button on any video or comment
- Email: report@upskrol.com
We review all reports within 1-3 business days.
🔄 Appeals
If your account has been warned, suspended, or banned, you may appeal by emailing legal@upskrol.com with:
- Your username and email address
- The action you are appealing
- Why you believe the action was in error
- Any supporting evidence
Appeals are reviewed within 14 business days. Decisions may be upheld, modified, or reversed at our discretion.
